Immerse yourself in the world of artist Kate Frizalis who literally transports us with her unstructured and detailed creations. « Artistic freedom is not at all ignorant of the laws. The freedom of imagination is not a leap into the unreal, it is not an escape, it is audacity, invention »(Eugène Ionesco)
One word can describe Kate Frizalis’ works: Freedom. « Freedom is necessary, and freedom is impossible within the framework of any concepts and definitions. Freedom is an emptiness in which there are all options for development at once » she says. The speed of our time, its variability, diversity inspires her. She likes its impermanence, imperfection, spontaneity and absurdity.
Her work is a kaleidoscope of languages, memories from travels, music … . She interacts with daily elements playing with the contrasts between colour and texture. Her works are like a music with rythm. Inspired by street art, her creative process is spontaneity. She doesn’t invent nothing new but the natural in her work is obvious. It is « a treasure trove of ideas, textures, forms (Giant strange washcloths, road signs, crooked stones, rubber dinosaurs, scraps of posters, blue plunger, many palm trees and plants, strange fruits and seeds) ».
Her studio is in her house and shines as an example of her boundless imagination. Her paintings have incorporated a variety of subject with color and quite representational. And others are more abstracted using only a limited selection of colors. She like creating challenges for herself, then resolving them. Creative totally surrealist, Kate works on the construction and destructuration of the objects or characters she stages.
